Hi, I'm Jess.
I spent close to two decades building a career I was properly proud of. Public service, private industry, entry level all the way up to operations manager, teams from two people to over seventy. I loved it. I was good at it.
Then I had my two boys, went back to work, and something had shifted. Not my skills - my attention. I wasn't going to move any further in that world unless I went back full time, and with two little ones not yet at school, that just wasn't where my family was at.
So I sat down and asked myself the question I now ask everyone else for a living: what am I actually good at, and what do I actually care about?
The answer was people. Specifically, helping business owners learn how to manage well.
I know that's not everyone's idea of a dream job (fair enough, honestly), but I genuinely love it. I love helping owners understand what makes their people tick - what motivates them, what they need, how to actually show up as a leader instead of just hoping for the best. And I learned most of that the hard way: by working for some genuinely terrible bosses. Self-serving, checked out, more interested in their own outcomes than the people delivering them. Those years taught me exactly what not decent feels like from the inside - and gave me an absolute commitment to never being that for anyone else.
Here's what I believe, and I'd stake the whole business on it: you can be a strong leader, get outstanding results, and put your people first, all at the same time. Honestly, I think when you genuinely centre your people, you get better outcomes than when you chase growth on its own. That belief is the entire foundation of PE Partners.
There's a second piece to why this business exists, too. Quality HR and people support has always been priced for businesses much bigger than yours (and mine). The industry looks past small business owners because their budgets are smaller - not because they need the support any less. I looked straight at that gap and thought: she's the one I want to help.
